HTML
Web pages are written using Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). HTML consists of "tags" which markup a text document. The tags are placed around words in a document. While there are numerous software packages available on the market for creating webpages, like MicroSoft's FrontPage and MacroMedia's DreamWeaver, you can actually create your own webpage using such simple word processing programs like SimpleText and WordPad that come free with your computer. All you need are some basic HTML "tags" or codewords.

Macintosh®
SimpleText
This program can be found in several places on the Macintosh computer, since it often comes packaged with those "Read Me" files. You can either go to the File menu, select FIND and enter the word: SimpleText. (The shortcut: Press Command (Apple) F and enter the word: SimpleText. Since it will probably find more than one copy, just choose one of the more recent versions.

Windows®
WordPad
This is an "accessory" packaged with MicroSoft's Windows Operating system. To access WordPad, go to the Start Menu, select PROGRAMS and locate Accessories. Highlight/select WordPad.
